What's Interbase? This is the first question to answer almost about any thing you want to explain. Interbase (aka "IB") is a relational database that implements several of the ANSI-SQL-92 requirements. IB was designed as an embedded database. Then, what's an embedded database? Simply put, one database product that you install with your application and better, if you put a little effort on your part, you can install it with your own setup program. If you don't care about having separate installations for your program and IB, you can simply launch from your setup the IB installer and let it do the task. IB uses little space in disk when installed, so it can be deployed with your application without bloating the disk of your users. IB also uses a few megabytes in RAM under normal conditions, so you don't need the latest generation server to run it. If you want to know more about the full history of Interbase, go to the miscellaneous section. If you want to know about Interbase's milestones, use the roadmap page. If you want to know about what IB can do, go to the features section. If you want specific information, go to the documentation section.
