My experience:

Not being a database administrator nor a database guru, I have needed a client/server SQL database management system that I could rely on with minimal maintenance for my clients. Beginning in the early 1990's, I started using Interbase 3.0 for applications developed for clients and it has fulfilled my requirements: install and just about forget it. One installation suffered a power loss (cord accidentally disconnected) and Interbase came through without losing one record.

It is best not to mention companies, however, I can describe some of the arenas in which Interbase is used:

1) Web driven databases receiving claims from people in fifty States for a class action lawsuits.

2) Real time look up for 800 number telephone calls to control the messages for the caller.

3) Tracking multiple checking accounts in multiple banks and reconciling the issued checks for major Unitied States class action lawsuits.

4) Web based continuing education courses for the insurance and security businesses.

5) Web based display and ordering of photographs.

Never lost a record and the only maintence is the daily backups.
