International character sets.

    Interbase has been a database engine that supports international character sets since version 3.X. In v3.3 there was International European support, for example and v3.2J was done specially for the Japanese language, see the roadmap.

With version 5, three new character sets were added: BIG_5 (Chinese), KSC5601 (Korean) and GB2312-80 (Chinese). The names aren't arbitrary. They are based on an international denomination.
